Background of the Study
Organizational climate is a critical determinant of employee behavior, influencing attitudes, performance, and workplace satisfaction. It encompasses employees' shared perceptions of leadership, communication, and organizational practices (Schneider et al., 2024). A positive organizational climate fosters collaboration, innovation, and commitment, whereas a negative climate can lead to disengagement and high turnover rates.
In Nigeria's banking sector, where competition is intense and stress levels are high, organizational climate significantly impacts employee behavior and productivity. GTBank, operating in Benue State, is known for its innovative banking practices. However, challenges such as communication gaps and unclear leadership directives can affect the perception of organizational climate and, subsequently, employee behavior (Okoro & Adeyemi, 2023).
This study examines how organizational climate shapes employee behavior at GTBank in Benue State, identifying key factors that contribute to a supportive work environment.
Statement of the Problem
Despite the importance of organizational climate in shaping employee behavior, many organizations struggle to create and sustain a positive work environment. GTBank in Benue State faces issues such as inadequate employee recognition, insufficient communication, and misaligned management practices, which negatively affect employee motivation and performance (Eze & Ibrahim, 2024).
The lack of attention to organizational climate leads to decreased job satisfaction and lower productivity levels. This study seeks to explore the relationship between organizational climate and employee behavior at GTBank to recommend strategies for improvement.
